- No Product-Market Fit
- The potential customers would tell you they liked your product. In reality, even email opt-ins, beta signup totals, and targeted surveys did not work.
- There is a very big difference between people entering their email address on your landing page and people paying each month for your product.
- A common feedback received by the founder was that the product was “a middle man to go with my middle man?” which the founders confidently disregarded as shortsightedness.
- There was no real sense that anyone was prepared to habitually use this solution, nor pay for it.
- Up and coming artists thought that selling out and making too much money will make them bad artists and thus, turned away from the product.
- Strategy Issues
- Using existing public data about bands, Gigger could completely do away with the promoter and band sides of the market.
- They could serve venues instead. This idea would have been great if it was the starting point.
- But at this point, putting together a team around the idea was high on impossible.
- Instead, the founder charged ahead and tried to raise money with the team. They had no machine learning experts, himself as coder, no sales, no designer anymore, and no marketing. In the end, they did not raise any money.
